In a famous television advert, singer-songwriter Nick Kamen washed his jeans in a launderette, while Marvin Gaye's I Heard it Through the Grapevine played in the background. The American film, The Breakfast Club had its USA release in February. Simple Minds agreed to record Don't You (Forget About Me) for the soundtrack. Marty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in Back To The Future. The movie had its theatrical release in July. The soundtrack included The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News, one of a number of contemporary song using the same title to chart. Eurovision 1985
Eurovision 1985 was held at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden.Let it Swing by Bobbysocks was the Norwegian entry. At the close of voting, the song received 123 points, placing first in a field of nineteen. It became Norway's first ever win at the contest.
