The film Chariots of Fire, based on the true story of two British sprinters at the 1924 Paris Olympics, was released in March. It won Best Original Score for Vangelis's electronic theme tune. The Eurovision Song Contest took place at the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin. Bucks Fizz provided the winning entry, giving the United Kingdom their fourth win in the competition. Germany finished second for the second consecutive year.
